We had very specific goals, having had several types of larger dogs over the years . We were looking for an intelligent, mid-sized, athletic dog that, most importantly, would have a great personality ... around the house, while traveling (Kathy was showing Quarter Horses at the time) and especially with children (since Arlene's grandchildren visited quite often).</div> <bR> <div> So we set off on a journey visiting dog show after dog show.  Asking questions (hopefully, informed questions) of anyone who would stand still long enough, we soon knew exactly the right dog, the Shetland Sheepdog.  And we knew exactly the dog we wished we could have, Am/Can Ch Cindahope's Ruffian CD, which led us to her owners, Dick and Nancy Hildreth, who became our friends and mentors.</div> <bR> <div> Dick and Nancy started us off with Nicki, a lovely bitch who, unfortunately, kept growing and growing. We soon added Gee, Cindahope's Georgie Girl, to keep Nicki company. While we dabbled a bit in showing, Nicki and Gee were more companions than showdogs.</div> <bR> <div> Enter <A HREF="id70.htm" TARGET="_top" TITLE="Sara Lee"><U>Sarah Lee</U></A>, who Kathy fell in love with when she visited to keep Nicki company while Gee was off being bred. A year later, we were able to wrestle Sarah away and Kathy began to show her. Six months later, she was our first champion.</div> <bR> <div> Since then, we've been blessed with many successes, along with our share of setbacks. Hopefully, we've learned from both.
